50 Years of TCO
2026 is our 50th year helping working families achieve security and long-term sustainability in their housing and finances.
TCO began as an observation by local pastors of inefficiencies in providing assistance to individuals in need. They wanted to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of assistance provided and work to increase collaboration and partnership between the different church families in our community. What began as a move of the Spirit within local pastors to more efficiently and effectively meet needs has developed through a few different iterations until, in 1995, it was renamed The Community Outreach.
Now, 50 years since God planted the seed in the heads and hearts of a few local pastors, TCO is still compelled by the Gospel of Jesus to effectively and efficiently provide the support and accountability that working families in crisis need to help them experience the hope and peace that comes with long-term sustainability and security in their housing and finances.
In 2025, TCO helped keep 738 children and 743 adults in their homes…helping alleviate the stress and anxiety of facing potential eviction because of their current crisis.
We helped 63 families, who could not secure housing on their own, acquire housing through our deposit assistance. The upfront deposit was the only thing preventing them from being able to secure housing.
Through our OneRoof Program, we helped another 128 adults, and 126 children secure and maintain safe housing that they could not secure on their own due to their past mistakes that prevented their housing applications from being accepted by any landlords.
Our small team fielded over 6,350 phone calls and scheduled over 900 Crisis Care appointments to meet with people to help them find hope in the midst of an overwhelming crisis!
Our desire is to prevent and end homelessness in the Sioux Empire and share the hope and the peace that only comes from Jesus. We do this because Jesus commands us to love our neighbor and serve the vulnerable…
Exciting things are on the horizon in this realm where we serve!
There is a greater desire for collaboration and unity within this community to walk alongside and serve those families struggling with homelessness and helping set them up for long-term sustainability with healthy community support and accountability.
As the Sioux Empire grows, these problems will grow. As a community, we need to realize that we are better together and the victory for these families and this whole community will come through our unity!
So…we continue to serve…in His name, for His glory, and for the sake of others.
From a movement of the Spirit to keeping hundreds of families safe and secure in their homes every year...TCO is working and uniting this community to prevent and eliminate homelessness in the Sioux Empire.
